No time for breakfast? Hungry on the plane? Granola bars sure beat Long stretch between lunch and dinner! These homemade granola bars are a healthy and delicious snack!
Made simply with almonds, cranberries, oats, almonds, puffed wheat cereal and honey. These bars require about 15 minutes of prep time, then an hour-long rest in the refrigerator to set. Recipe yields 10 granola bars.
200 g oats
25 g puffed wheat cereal
220 g honey
65 g dried cranberries
55 g toasted chopped almonds
1/2 tsp salt
1. Heat the oven to 350 F. Spread the almonds in a single layer on a rimmed cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Toast them for five to 10 minutes, shaking the pan a few times to redistribute the nuts so they brown evenly. Pull them from the oven just as they turn golden brown and aromatic, and transfer them (simply lift the parchment paper) onto a cutting board or into a dish to cool.
2. Chop up almonds
3. In a large bowl, combine the oats, puffed cereal, honey, dried cranberries, almonds.
4.Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
5. Add salt and mix well.
6.Lay baking paper at baking pan.
7.Add your granola mixture evenly, pat down with a spatula. You cal also lay a sheet of baking paper over the top and pat down with your hands.
8.Chill until hards in the refrigerator, at least a few hours.
9. Remove and cut into bars.
+ You may place cut bats into the freezer which is what we do to keep them extra nice and firm.
* The honey and brown sugar helps with keeping the bars together. Chocolate chips added to the mixture help too.
