''Keep your eyes open and your feet moving forward. You will see incredible things ''
I have lived in Jurmala for almost full life and haven't even heard about this magical place. It's just another reminder that beauty is all around us, we just have to look. Lāčupītes Dendrārijs nature trail.
Driving along the Talsi highway, immediately after Klapkalnciems, on the sea side you will find a small reference to the Lāčupīte nature trail. interesting nature park has been created more than 55 years ago, which can be visited by anyone for free. Latvian state forests, which manage this territory, have created footbridges, bridges and an information stand there.
If you go straight, you will find a footbridge to the sea but if turn left before"Latvijas meži" sign you will find a fairy forest wich is most beautiful on late May and early June when it's full with rhododendrons. There you can also see the memorial stone of the author of the dendrological park Igors Mednis and a little below, near Lāčupīte, also romantic houses and other wonderful plants.
For this time we went straight to the sea, actually Enzo take us there and we just followed him.
Wooden footbridge is pretty short but long enough for little Enzo feets. The view around the trail is enjoyable, full with forest trees and fresh air. And very accessible with baby strollers. You can even jump out from footbridge and walk through the small forest trails.
At the end of the trail you will find a stunning view of the sea.
Bye the way, before the stairs to the sea, there is also WC 😉
Jūrmala is known for its wonderful 33 km (21 miles) white-sand beach, mild climate and healthy air. This is a great place to get back to nature, strolling the miles of pine-fringed shore and admiring beautiful timber summer cottages.
The beautiful thing about hiking is that it's truly an activity everyone can do. Whether you're young or old, an expert or an amateur, this is a trail out there that will be perfect for you. So the next time you're pondering an outdoor adventure in Latvia—maybe this is the one for you too.
